How I became the fish keeper!
Shane is home.
Frog still in the tank. Dead!
He put his stuff down and got to work.
Took the net.
Lowered into the tank - not as slowly as I would.
But I’m not doing this.
Shane hadn’t put his hands in the tank sense giving them shrimp.
We know he is allergic to shrimp but we wouldn’t have thought what would happen.
He takes the frog out on the net.
I say,
“what are you doing with him?”
He responds
“Flushing him down the toilet.”
“You can flush a frog?” I said
“Yea it will be fine.” He reassured me.
The job is done!
Our poor, sweet frog is now laid to rest.
We managed to flush a fish and a frog without Lucas noticing.
That felt like success.
We just had to keep the yellow fish and pink fish alive.
Those seemed to be his favorite fish.
And they were fish he would notice if they died.
Just a few minutes went by after flushing Bingo..
Shane started itching and his arms started turning red.
Shane knew immediately what it was.
The shrimp I have been feeding them!
As Lucas started calling it the shrimp water.
No longer tank water.
He ended up ok, he took a shower and had benadryl.
I was freaking out though.
“What do we do?” I asked.
“I keep my hand out of the tank.” he responded.
I said.
“I need to stop feeding them shrimp!”
Shane responded
“NO! We can not stop feeding them the shrimp they need.”
That's the moment I became the fish keeper and Shane became the researcher!
He coached me through things I needed to do.
For a bit I was afraid to put my hand in the tank.
But as time went on, I didn't mind and actually wanted to touch the fish.
