The Great Escape
Now it’s time to open the bag and release them into the tank.
We take the bag out of the tank and put it on the desk.
That's when we learned our first lesson, Opening a fish bag is not easy.
“Why do they tie the knot so tight?” we all wondered.
We passed the bag back and forth, taking turns trying to loosen the knot that wouldn’t budge.
Victory the bag opened.
Now it’s time to take the black handled fish net and fish them out.
Shane volunteered to do the job. Holding the net in one hand and the bag in the other, with the bag still sitting on the desk.
The kids and I stand back and watch the net
Slowly…
Go into the bag, with the bag almost flattens on the desk.
While the fish are frantically trying to get away from the net.
The kids and I starting to panic watching as the net almost dangerously get to close to squishing a fish.
We start to yell at him
"Be careful"
Like yelling was going to help the situation.
We had five fish to release, not one or two, five fish in one bag.
We didn't stop yelling, in fact we got louder.
Shane finally yells,
“They're fine!”
Which in fact becomes his favorite line during this journey.
Finally after so much chaos we got all five fish in the tank.
We are relieved! It's over! Our fish are in, we watch for a minute,
But we had realized, it had been way past dinner.
We were all hungry and emotional exhausted.
We walked away letting the fish settle in.
But..
What we didn’t know yet..
Fish don’t always live long!
